About Flybrite: Built by Home Educators, for Home Educators
Created by Jayne and Sarah. Jayne is a former bank manager and home educating mum to one daughter who felt mainstream education wasn't the right fit for her family and chose the home ed path. Sarah is a qualified assistant head teacher and mother of two, passionate about child centred learning. Together, we're making learning documentation joyful and inspector friendly.
Meet the Founders
Sarah
I am a qualified assistant head teacher and a mother of two, with a deep passion for education that places the child at the centre of learning. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and flourish at their own pace, developing confidence and curiosity in the areas that genuinely interest them.
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked closely with children who struggled to keep up within mainstream classrooms, particularly those affected by large class sizes, differing needs, and limited individual attention. These experiences have shown me that while schools offer many strengths, the traditional education system is not the right fit for every child.
From both a professional and personal perspective, I strongly advocate for home education as a positive and empowering alternative. Home learning allows education to be tailored to a child's pace, learning style, and interests, encouraging deeper understanding, emotional wellbeing, and a love of learning. As a parent, I have seen firsthand how academic pressures can impact children, and this has strengthened my belief in flexible, child led education.
I am passionate about supporting families in creating a well rounded educational journey that nurtures academic growth, creativity, independence, and confidence, recognising that there is no single path that suits every child.
Jayne
Jayne is a former bank manager and home educating mum to one daughter. After building a successful career in banking, where she developed strong skills in organisation, problem solving, and helping people navigate complex systems, she made the decision to step away from the corporate world to focus on her family.
When it became clear that mainstream public education wasn't the right fit for her daughter, Jayne chose the home education path. What started as a leap of faith quickly became a rewarding journey, as she discovered a whole new world of learning possibilities and a supportive community of like minded families.
Through her own experience, Jayne saw firsthand the challenges home educating families face: keeping track of learning activities, preparing for Local Authority visits, and finding local groups and events. She recognised that the organisational skills she had developed in banking could help solve these problems for others.
Jayne co founded Flybrite to give families the tools she wished she had when starting out. Her vision is to make home education more accessible and less overwhelming, so parents can spend less time on paperwork and more time enjoying the learning journey with their children.
Our Mission: Making Home Education Easier for Every UK Family
Home education in the UK is growing rapidly, with over 100,000 children now learning at home in England alone. Yet despite this growth, families still struggle with the same challenges: documenting learning for Local Authority reports, finding local support networks, and proving that everyday life is full of educational value.
Flybrite was created to change that. We believe every home educating family deserves access to professional tools that make their journey easier. Whether you're following a structured curriculum or embracing child led learning, whether you're dealing with supportive or challenging Local Authorities, Flybrite gives you the confidence to home educate on your terms.
Our mission is simple: to empower UK families to home educate with confidence, providing the tools, community, and support that make the difference between surviving and thriving.
Why We Built Flybrite
As home educating parents ourselves, we experienced firsthand the frustrations of existing tools. Generic education apps didn't understand UK home education law. Learning management systems were built for schools, not families. And finding local home ed groups meant endless Facebook scrolling and word of mouth.
We built Flybrite to solve our own problems:
The Local Authority Report Problem
Creating comprehensive reports for our LA took hours, sifting through photos, notes, and memories to document what our children had learned. We built AI powered report generation that transforms your logged activities into professional, LA ready reports in minutes. No more stressful annual documentation marathons.
The "Was That Educational?" Problem
So much learning happens in everyday moments, but how do you document a trip to the park, a cooking session, or a conversation about history? Our intelligent activity tracking helps identify and categorise the educational value in daily life, making it easy to capture learning as it happens.
The Community Connection Problem
Finding local home ed groups was frustratingly difficult. We wanted one place to discover families nearby, join local groups, and never miss meetups. Flybrite's community features connect you with home educators in your area, building the support network that makes home education sustainable.
The Inspiration Problem
Some days you need fresh ideas. Our AI lesson generator creates engaging, age appropriate lessons across all subjects, perfect for when you're stuck or want to explore something new. It's like having a creative teaching assistant on demand.
What We Believe About Home Education
Home Education is a Valid Choice
Home education isn't a backup plan or last resort. It's a legitimate, powerful educational choice that works brilliantly for many families. We believe every parent has the right to choose how their child is educated, and home education deserves to be supported, not stigmatised.
There's No "Right Way" to Home Educate
Structured curriculum? Child led unschooling? Eclectic mix? All approaches are valid. We built Flybrite to support every style of home education, not to prescribe how you should teach. Your family, your choice, your journey.
Community Changes Everything
Home education can feel isolating, but it doesn't have to be. Connected families thrive. That's why community features are at the heart of Flybrite. Finding your tribe transforms the home education experience.
Your Privacy is Sacred
We understand the sensitivity of educational data. Your family's information is protected under UK GDPR, never sold, and always under your control. We use bank level encryption because your privacy isn't a feature, it's fundamental.
